Building Sorted Dustbin Without Soft Close
Recycling is one of the easiest ways we can do our bit for the environment. As a country, we are getting better at sorting our waste from what can be reused – but there’s still more work to do. A report of the latest recycling figures from last year showed that only 45% of waste made it into our recycling bins. (The government has vowed to increase this to 50% in 2020 – so it’ll be interesting to see if we’ve improved, especially with us all spending more time in our homes due to coronavirus.)
Even if this figure does improve, only recycling half of our rubbish still seems low. Brits used nearly 5 million tonnes of plastic last year, most of which is packaging, which is widely recycled across the country. If you watched Blue Planet, you’ll know that the impact of not properly disposing of plastics can have some really dire effects on our oceans and wildlife, so it’s important for us all to play our part..
